PUERTO RICO SPRAYCATION |

Montreal writers ZECK, SCAN, SEWK and SWAG recently took a powder break and visited La Isla de Puerto Rico.

The Locals are amazing. The Rainforest is deep.

Umm. Boriquen is hoottt, crazy, beautiful, slow and more hot. (-PUN18 ADM)

It is pretty slow out there… The Island is known for holding the record for nation with most vacation time. PR’s got that swag.

What brought you to Puerto Rico in particular?

-First I have many friends, they have a graff-friendly environment, year around… So perfect for a winter spraycation.

They also know how to party. (-ZECK)

-The Tripletas. Those fucking sandwiches are off the chain. Wish I could bring those home. (-SEWK)

What’s the point of painting?

-Outshining myself and trying to outshine others. Doing something for no one except me. Doing something for every reason except money. Doing something to get better and better. And huff paint. (-SEWK)

-I think it must be a way to feel accomplished, the more I paint the better I get… And the better I get, the more I like it. A nice big positive circle bringing me further and further. (-ZECK)

Yo SCAN, what’s good?

-Voyager, c’est ouvrir ses horizons et surtout la meilleure nourriture au monde!

Lorsque tu voyages, il s’agit de déconnecter pour entrer dans un autre mode. Lorsque tu pars pour aller peindre c’est complètement une nouvelle plateforme de jeu, de nouveaux joueurs et un nouveau décor.

It’s just the best shit ever! Your in another place, you got new landscape, different architecture, languages, peoples….

It depends where you go of course, but im talking about somewhere different from home…

Towards graffiti, its really refreshing to absorb and dip into a different scene from your local stuff! Not just for inspiration but just to notice how its done or how can it be done and what can you bring and leave to the table! You just wanna go all out and do your thing outside of your comfort zone!

I definitely wanna travel the most as possible… cause that’s where you’re able to capture that energy that reminds you why you’re doing this, and that the movement is world wide… So why not?! …That way you meet people, you learn stuff and you don’t get fed up !!!

These days I try to get out of the comforatable zone as much as possible, by pushing new names and most of all, to get loose and freestyle as much as possible. I’m also getting more serious about interior work that is not what I would paint on a wall!

Montreal’s cold these days, we manage an average -15 and we are full of snow banks so a tropical island is a good way to start 2011.

-Why is traveling the best thing ever? This includes many many things. Its hard to sum it all up, The whole experience is important. Travellers understand, the rest need to travel to get it! (-SEWK)

Pun, still taking it easy:

-In graffiti I definitely don’t like the crowd, to0 many wack kids with other people’s tags and tons of toys acting like stylesr. I only think ADMcrew, OScrew, Bik, Blen some guys in the West have a good style and as 4 the new comers: glos, sare, epic, mobs got future. But its extremely nice to paint here… Cops don’t bother much, …alot of abandoned places.

-Let me point it out for you: sun, palm trees, sun, t-shirts, beautiful girls, good rum, and sun! I’m not the type to waste time at the beach, so I’m not talking about the all included type’ a deal.

I went to Puerto-Rico to paint, party and chill in the rainforest!
