RYAN DINEEN PAINTS THE CITY

Dineen magnifies mediocre everyday scenes. The Toronto based artist has been painting graffiti for over a decade. Along with his crew, he redefines new school letterism and pushes large scale murals to a further level. On the fine arts tip, he goes by his real name.

His new pieces are presented alongside Jacques Oule’s recent works all month at Show&Tell Gallery. Don’t sleep.

NOMAG – Congratulations on the new show… What’s good?
DINEEN -thanks man. Just looking forward to not being covered in oil paint for a minute.

How did you link up with Jacques Oule for the project?
-Friend/Director of Show & Tell Gallery, Simon Cole, hooked us up for this show. He thought our work would go well together and I agreed.

What is your favorite medium right now?
-I love using watercolour but oil is my favorite for now.

Does your work in Cityscrapes represent a city in particular, and why?
-Yes. All the paintings are landscapes (cityscrapes) from in and around downtown Toronto, where I was born and raised.

What’s next?
-just looking forward to warmer weather so that I can start up mural season!
